Droverhall Avenue Play Area
Results updated 3 Jun 2026
Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation on the proposed designs for the new play area at Droverhall Avenue.
We received a high level of engagement, with responses from both adults and children across a range of age groups, particularly families with children under 12.
Preferred Design
- Option 1 was the most popular choice overall, receiving the majority of responses.
- Option 2 also received a significant level of support, particularly from some children and younger users.
Key Feedback Themes
Respondents provided a range of helpful comments which have been considered alongside the design preference:
Safety and materials
- Some concerns were raised about the use of wooden equipment, particularly that it can become slippery when wet.
- A small number of respondents highlighted that metal equipment may be more durable and less prone to damage (e.g. fire risk).
Accessibility and inclusion
- There was support for inclusive play, including the availability of wheelchair-accessible equipment.
- A small number of respondents indicated additional needs, reinforcing the importance of inclusive design.
Play value and equipment
- Option 1 was often preferred for its variety and perceived usability.
- Some respondents raised concerns about the long-term durability of elements within Option 2.
Site layout and enclosure
- There was clear support for the play area being fully enclosed, particularly from parents of younger children.
Next Steps
The project will now progress with Option 1 for delivery, reflecting the preferred option identified through the consultation. The existing boundary fence will be retained, in response to strong support for maintaining a safe and enclosed play space.
It will likely be 2027 before we can get the project onsite.
Thanks to all who took part!
